Austin O’Malley said, “The fact that you have been knocked down is interesting, but the length of time you remain down is important.” In life, you will have problems. Are you going to give up and stay down, wallowing in your defeat, or are you going to get back on your feet as quickly as you can?

When you fall, make the best of it and get back on your feet. Learn what you can from your mistake, and then get back in the game. View your errors the way Henry Ford did his. He said, “Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.”

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials.”
~ James 1:2 (NIV)

What price are you willing to pay to be a more effective leader?

One of the finest examples of sacrifice by a leader in the Bible can be seen in the life of Moses. He could easily be the “poster child” for leadership sacrifice. He grew up like a son of Pharaoh, a prince. As a boy, he enjoyed every privilege and pleasure of the palace.

Yet Moses risked all of that to try to help his people. And in face, he lost everything. After murdering an Egyptian, he faced exile in the desert of Midian , and for forty years he lived with the sacrifice he had made before learning that God intended to use him as a leader. By then, Moses had undergone the breaking and remaking process required for him to be used by God.

As a leader you may not be asked to leave your country or give up all your possessions as Moses was. But you can be sure that leading others will have a price.

He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
~ 1 John 4:4

I was reading a story today about a football and how it never gets deflated in a game. Actually, I have never once thought about that. That football is hurled, kicked, squashed, fumbled and pounced on by 22 huge men for a couple hours – yet it never deflates – at least, I have never seen a team lose a ball before the game ends due to deflation, have you?

The article was saying that although the external pressure that was coming against the ball was great, the internal pressure was greater. What was on the inside of that ball was much greater than anything those 22 men could do to it. I thought that was interesting.

I also thought it was interesting how we can apply that to our Christian walk. You see, the power that is on the inside of us is much greater than any external pressure that could ever come against us. The power of the Holy Spirit dwells in us and the Bible says that He is a greater power than anything in the world.

Isn’t that wonderful to know? Whatever comes against you from the outside can’t stand up to what is on the inside of you. Why? Because the Greater One lives inside of you. I love the way one translation says it: you have already won, because what is inside of you is so much greater than what is in the world.

You have already won! That’s what I have been teaching you from the beginning of this year – you have already won! The Greater One is in you and you are in Him and He has already won.

Oh, I am sure you could list numerous opponents who have come against you or tried to stop you from scoring a touchdown, but the Greater One in you has much more power than anything that can come at you from the outside. Satan’s strategy is to deflate you and stop you from reaching your goal – but God had the final say and He has already spoken. You can be just like that football, roll with the punches. At times it may seem like you are getting kicked here and there, tossed around by everyone that comes in contact with you, but the power that resides on the inside of you will always cause you to bounce back, every single time.

It reminds me of something Rocky Balboa says in one of the Rocky movies; He said ‘it’s not how hard you can hit, it’s how many times you can get hit and keep moving forward.’

The enemy is counting on you getting hit and staying down. He is counting on you thinking if he hits one more time you are out for the count, but he is mistaken. You see, our Jesus defeated him, completely.

When I first was born again, I used to wonder why people would stand up in church and say things like ‘the devil has beaten me up all week, but I came on to church anyway’ or ‘the devil really did a number on me this week.’ I was just a new Christian, but I would think ‘if this God we serve is all powerful and the enemy is defeated, what are they doing letting him beat them up?’

I have since found that the church has not yet walked in the fullness of the dominion that Jesus died to give us – that same dominion that Adam had before the fall – but we will – and we can begin this day. We are a new breed of believers – I believe that with all my heart. We are a new breed – pioneers. Pioneers scout out new land – yet it is actually land that was already there – undiscovered, as it was with Columbus.

This land, flowing with milk and honey is already here – purchased for us at the cross. It is ours for the taking. The Garden of Eden is again available to us – that living without toil belongs to us just as once belonged to Adam. And we are a group of believers that know our rights and our covenant and we refuse to live like we don’t have covenant.

The Bible says we are to reign in life as kings. Reign – rule over – take dominion. As kings. Eccl. 8:4 says the king’s command is backed by great power and no one can question it. Your command is backed by the greatest power on earth – by God, Himself – and no one can question it.

I know many of you have felt like all the pressure in the world has come against you in one way or another – I know how you feel, I have been there. But you must know, really know that the Greater One does live in you and if God be for you and He is – nothing can come against you and stay. No weapon formed against you will prosper. No weapon. The power in you is so much greater than all the pressure from the outside. Once you know that for certain and begin to declare it, that pressure will back off.

Therefore, regardless of if you feel you have been kicked around, fumbled, tossed to and fro – remember, you are just like that football – there is more in you than against you. God is in you – nothing can stand against you. Begin to live like you believe it!

So he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around His waist. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples’ feet.John 13:4-5 (NIV)

When you think of servanthood, what do you envision? Servanthood is not about position or skill. It’s about attitude. You undoubtedly have met people in service positions who have poor attitudes toward servanthood. And just as you can sense when a worker doesn’t want to help people, you can just as easily detect whether a leader has a servant’s heart.

The truth is that the best leaders desire to serve others, not themselves. True servant leaders:
•Put others ahead of their own agenda.
•Possess the confidence to serve.
•Initiate service to others.
•Are not position-conscious.
•Serve out of love.

Servant leadership is never motivated by manipulation or self-promotion. In the end, the extent of your influence depends on the depth of your concern for others. That’s why it’s so important for leaders to be willing to serve.

I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” ~ Genesis 12:1-3 (NIV)

Genesis 11:13 tells us that Abraham’s father, Terah, set out for Canaan from Ur of the Chaldeans long before Abraham made a similar trip. But for some reason, Terah stopped in Harah and never continued his journey. Did Terah receive an original call from God…but neglect to follow through? We don’t know.

We do know that Abraham never made such a mistake. Although he made other leadership errors, Abraham always seemed to follow through on his commitments. When God called him to depart to an unknown land, he went the distance. When enemies abducted Lot and his goods, Abraham pursued the kidnapers and subdues them (Genesis 17:23). And when God asked Abraham to sacrifice his beloved son, Isaac, only a last-second angelic intervention spared the young man’s life (Genesis 11:1-9). No wonder that god, the Ultimate Leader, called Abraham, “My friend” (Isaiah 41:8)!

This video was inspired by the Ultimate Team. By Blue Angel pilot, Scott Beare andaward winning designer Michael McMillan. The video shares 9 key principles of TEAMwork that the Blue Angels use when flying.

TEAMwork separates the winners from the losers.

The Blue Angels set the standard each day… at every level

At what level does your TEAM operate?

Is it time to raise the bar?

Share Center Point Values

The Blue Angels build every show around a center point
and build their TEAM around shared values.
Without shared values, peak performance isn’t possible.
Team value must align with its purpose, mission and actions…
Put TEAM first!

Sacrificing individual gain for the TEAM’s greater good
is the price of admission members must pay…
and keep paying…to be on the team.

TEAMwork isn’t a part-time activity…
each member represents the TEAM at all times.

Putting TEAM first is a 24/7 commitment…

Walk the Talk

Effective leaders are upfront and lead by positive example.
Successful leaders embrace the power of TEAMwork by tapping into
the innate strengths each person brings to the table.

What’s the level of trust on your TEAM?

Are your objectives aligned with your values?

Do you walk the talk?

Maintain Peak Performance

Peak performance requires we take time to rest, reflect and recharge our batteries.

Communicate

vertically + horizontally

Every member on the team requires clear and effective communication to accomplish their job.
At this level of performance, there can be no questions or doubt concerning communication.

Does your TEAM communicate…openly and honestly?

Prepare To Win

Visualize yourself accomplishing the task at hand.
“Train the way you fight and fight the way you train.”

Capitalize on Synergy

Synergy happens when qualified people align on a common objective.
Making the TEAM means doing what it takes to fulfill the mission.
Each member has a role in the team’s success.

Do you capitalize on synergy?

Does your TEAM prepare to win?

Do you?

Clarify Procedures

Each member must know procedures…and follow a detailed script.
Every situation requires a proper response.

Foster Positive Attitudes

A can-do attitude makes the impossible, possible.

Attitude = Altitude

Strive for Perfection

By confronting our failures, we come closer to reaching…perfection.

Every TEAM member must earn the right to wear the crest.
When each member accepts full responsibility and strives for excellence…
trust and performance increase exponentially…
and the TEAM is ready to take off.

Is your TEAM ready to take off and reach new levels of success?

Are you?

(c) The Power of Teamwork
